Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Foundation presents Bel Canto Award and Sydney International Song Prize Finals
The annual JSRB Bel Canto Award and Sydney International Song Prize are two of Australia’s most prestigious competitions for classical artists, attracting some of the finest emerging young singers and pianists from Australia and New Zealand.
In this centenary year of Dame Joan Sutherland’s birth, we continue to celebrate the power of the human voice and her extraordinary legacy by supporting these talented musicians through the Foundation’s scholarship programme.
Enjoy an afternoon of stunning operatic arias performed by six bel canto finalists and relish in three beautiful song recitals. Twelve artists will compete for $100,000 in prize money including a $40,000 first prize. Please join our esteemed panel of judges and be a part of history by casting your vote for your favourite singers and pianist for the audience prize. The Bel Canto Award will be accompanied by Kate Johnson with compere Dr Robert Mitchell.

Come see the newest stars of the operatic stage! The IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition Finals Concert gives you a unique chance to hear the new generation of opera stars perform some of the most memorable works in the classical singing canon.
The IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition has long been considered the premier showcase for Australasia’s finest young singers and is the home of ‘The Mathy’, the most prestigious award given to a young opera and classical singer.
For a fraction of the cost of a ticket to the opera, you can enjoy an evening of the finest classical singing accompanied by the Opera Australia Orchestra.
